Michelson Center for Public Policy and Partners Join Sen. Newman in Support of SR 106

SUBJECT: SR 106 (Newman)

POSITION: Support

Dear Senator Newman,

The Michelson Center for Public Policy (MCPP) is pleased to support SR 106 (Newman), which resolves that the Senate joins MCPP and the California IP Alliance (CAIPA) in recognizing October as Intellectual Property Awareness Month.

As organizations committed to advancing the understanding and protection of intellectual property rights, we recognize the significance of raising awareness about the importance of intellectual property (IP) and its role in fostering innovation, creativity, economic growth, and social justice.

In particular, California, along with the United States, have been pioneers in various fields, including technology, entertainment, biotechnology, and green innovation. The proclamation of Intellectual Property Month will provide an opportunity to showcase our great state and nation's leadership in intellectual property protection and enforcement. This resolution will continue to elevate California's and the United States' reputation as hubs for innovation, attracting investment, talent, and businesses from around the world. By celebrating and recognizing California's and the nation's IP achievements, we can strengthen their positions as global leaders in intellectual property and further drive innovation and economic growth.

The Michelson Center for Public Policy, the California Intellectual Property Alliance and the United States Intellectual Property Alliance, wholeheartedly support the proclamation of Intellectual Property Month in October for the state of California. This initiative aligns with the nationwide effort to promote innovation, creativity, and maker economies, while emphasizing the importance of intellectual property for economic growth, education, collaboration, and social justice outcomes. By recognizing and celebrating the importance of intellectual property, we can foster a climate that encourages creativity, protects innovation, ensures economic prosperity, and advances social justice objectives. We look forward to working with you in support of SR 106 (Newman).

Sincerely,

Gary Michelson
